Solar LED lights provide an environmentally friendly, economical, and aesthetically pleasing lighting option. These efficient and powerful lights have many uses in outdoor lighting. They can be used for porch lighting, street and parking area lighting, address lighting, lighting walkways and steps, garden and landscape lighting, security lighting, and many other uses. Their high quality, powerful light, ease of use, and virtually unlimited placement make them invaluable when selecting a lighting option.

An LED, or light emitting diode, is a very small light that provides a large amount of illumination for its size. LED's contain a chemical that emits light when electricity passes through it in a process called electroluminescence. LED's were originally developed and used as indicator lights in various electronic devices. They have been used in many applications, from aircraft and automobile instrumentation to flashlights. More recently they are being used for a wider variety of lighting, including home and outdoor applications.

Solar LED lights require no external source of power. They contain a solar panel that harnesses energy from the sun and a battery that is recharged from the solar panel and used to power the LED. Their power source, battery, and light are completely self-contained. This means that they require no electrical wiring or cords and can be placed virtually anywhere--unlike conventional lighting options.

Solar LED lights have numerous advantages over conventional lights and fluorescent lights. They draw very little power. They typically only draw a mere 2-4 volts of electricity. This makes them remarkably more efficient than conventional lights. Additionally, LED's have a life span many times that of conventional light bulbs, literally tens of thousands of hours. LED's typically have a lifespan of well beyond forty thousand hours hours, or around 10 years of normal usage. Because of their low power use, long life, and very small size; LED's are environmentally friendly and have a small impact on the environment.

When selecting new or additional lighting options, or upgrading current lighting; solar LED's are an excellent choice. Whether enhancing the safety of a walkway, increasing the security of an entryway, or highlighting the aesthetics of landscaping, solar LED lights provide the most economical and efficient option.
